Description Qualifications Ability to work under Direct and General Supervision of a Dentist and perform work in accordance with the Dental Board of Work Experience 2 years of Registered Dental Assisting, taking X-rays and working with patients. Education High School diploma, Completion of accredited Dental Assisting with Coronal Polish, X-Ray License, CPR Certification; Must have and maintain: California RDA License, DEA License, BLS Certification Skills Speaking, Active Listening, Reading Comprehension, Time Management, Writing, Critical Thinking, Negotiation, Judgment / Decision Making; Social Perceptiveness; Coordination Examples of Duties

• Prepare patient, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist dentist during dental procedures
• Expose dental diagnostic x-rays
• Record treatment information in patient records
• Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist
• Assist dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies(per regulations listed below)
• Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory
• Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts
• Perform Cleanings, X-Rays and Coronal Polishing
• Maintains and enhances competency through in-services, staff meetings and educational programs. Meets state licensing requirements for continuing medical education.
• Use masks, gloves and safety glasses to protect themselves and their patients from infectious diseases

Additional Responsibilities

• Clean and polish removable appliances
• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory
• Patient reception and dismissal
• Appointment book control and maintain recall system
• Block out times for reserved emergency and new appointments
• Ability to interpret Material Safety Data Sheets
• Maintaining and controlling business area
• Incoming mail, invoices, packing slips and statements (forward to appropriate person for verification and/or payment)
• Maintaining file system
• Ordering and receiving supplies
