MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic experience, skills and training with fundamental knowledge of cleaning, floor and restroom care, and equipment maintenance. Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram format. Must be able to lift and/or move heavy objects; work from ladders; and operate cleaning equipment and tools associated with this position. Ability is required to adapt to changing work priorities; to work efficiently; to communicate effectively; to maintain confidentiality; to work as part of a team; and to manage frequent interruptions. Fundamental duties include manual tasks demanding physical fitness, strength, agility and stamina. Primary responsibility is
for the use of proper methods, materials/chemicals, and equipment in cleaning and keeping buildings, campuses and equipment safe and

sanitary. Employees work under the close supervision of a Head Custodian. Activities follow a well-established routine.

GOAL

Maintain a healthy, safe, functional and attractive environment for students, visitors and employees through regular cleanliness and regular maintenance of school district facilities.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accepts direction from Head Custodian, Supervisor or Administrator.

Performs regular custodial duties in assigned area(s) of buildings and campuses.

Cleans woodwork, walls, furniture and windows using common household equipment and cleaning products.

Mops, scrubs, strips, waxes, shampoos, vacuums and spot-cleans carpeting and floors, using manual and power equipment.

Climbs and cleans multilevel stairwells; climbs a ladder or steps to complete tasks.

Performs physical tasks as required including: walking on even/uneven surfaces, standing/bending repeatedly and for extended times.

Keeps equipment and supplies in order; maintains an inventory of supplies; restocks and requests/orders supplies when needed.

Understands, communicates, and follows oral and written instructions given in the English language.

Works with cleaning fluids, chemicals, cleaning agents or similar solutions using only normal protective equipment to maintain facilities.

Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, activities and events.

Moves furnishings as required for routine and periodic major cleaning.

Operates small equipment, common hand tools and machinery with care in performing assigned cleaning tasks.

Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns to resolve issues and maintain a functioning educational environment.

Possesses and maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.

Follows work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, dependable and punctual manner.

Participates in required training programs and on-the-job training to increase proficiency; and applies what it learned to the job.

Maintains security and accountability for keys, alarm codes, equipment and supplies.

Maintains confidentiality of information and adheres to chain of command.

Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude toward students, colleagues, administration and the public.

[Reviews current developments, literature and technical source information related to the job.

Ensures adherence to established safety procedures.

Follows federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.

Performs other duties as assigned.
