Nurse Practitioner - Oncology

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review. Former EDRP participants are ineligible. Responsibilities Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic. Collaborate with other services within the Hudson Valley Health Care System to offer feedback and consultation. Evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests from Primary Care providers and others for outpatient hematology/oncology subspecialty consultations. Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatments for patients. Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system. Perform administrative tasks such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). Provide Hematology/Oncology on-call services as assigned. Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (tour to be discussed during interview process). Benefits Salary: Competitive base salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5-day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VAI contributions. Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care; many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement. Recruitment Incentive: Sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance (relocation assistance approved). No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Qualifications Must hold a full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory. Must be board certified; full‑time status required for $1,000 per year CME reimbursement.
