School Bus Aide – Job Description Starting at $19/Hr + $200.00 SIGN ON BONUS! Responsibilities Maintain and wear clean, properly maintained uniforms and required ID’s for all work activities and trainings. Maintain and appropriately distribute paperwork, including: Complete daily timesheets Accurately record attendance Complete incident forms when problems arise Transportation of students, which includes: Knowing the route for pick‑up and drop‑off of students and being able to give driving directions as needed Reviewing student’s appearance and reporting any changes in appearance Ensuring students are buckled in securely Loading and securing wheelchairs as instructed Unloading students at the correct destination to the authorized person Serving as liaison between home and school when absences occur, release changes happen, or problems occur during transport Assisting the driver in advising and observing dangerous conditions Cleaning of vehicle, including: Conducting weekly thorough cleaning of the inside of the vehicle Conducting daily inspections for loose or movable articles to ensure they are secured Performing other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 18 years old. Provide a valid government‑issued photo identification card (State ID, State Driver’s License, passport, Military ID). Read, write, speak, and understand English. Attend all trainings and meetings as required. Current and clean criminal abstract (obtained annually). Negative TB test result (skin test every 2 years and chest X‑ray yearly). CPR and First Aid certified. Work flexible split shifts. Perform basic arithmetic and time‑keeping. Follow instructions given orally, in writing, or diagram form. Provide a clean and safe environment while delivering service excellence to students, school, and community. Promote the core values of Lokahi, Ha’aheo, and Kina’ole (teamwork, pride, and flawlessness). Show critical thinking and decision‑making skills to implement solutions quickly. Have a strong service orientation, especially when addressing the needs of students with disabilities. Promote mutual respect, support safety programs, and keep the workplace clean and safe. Working Conditions Stand, walk, and sit for sustained periods. Perform medium exertion tasks: lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, or 10 lbs frequently. Stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting for extended periods. Communicate verbally, send spoken instructions accurately. Receive detailed oral information. Require visual acuity for tasks such as operating and repairing machines/equipment. Work both indoors and outdoors, subject to environmental conditions. Encounter hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to heat. Subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect respiratory system (fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases).
