Manager, Software Engineering

Role Description

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead the VUR/UM engineering team, driving the development and delivery of cloud-based products that drive better care for patients and lower operating costs. This individual will lead a team of approximately 8 engineers while partnering closely with Product Management to define roadmaps, prioritize work, and deliver incremental value through modern software engineering practices.

The ideal candidate is a technical leader who can balance business outcomes with engineering excellence, challenge existing processes, and help drive innovation across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years as a software engineer
• 3 to 5 years of experience leading a team of engineers preferred
• 5+ years of experience in modern technology stacks
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals: testing automation, code reviews, telemetry, iterative delivery, and DevOps
• Experience with CI/CD tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public cloud, application observability, GraphQL, and/or event-driven architecture
• Experience delivering scalable applications using componentized and distributed architectures
• Solid foundations in formal architecture, design patterns, and best practices
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Exposure to AI-enabled development tools, code generation models, or ML-driven insights
• Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI

Requirements

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of high-performing software engineers
• Partner closely with Product Management to define roadmaps and prioritize initiatives
• Guide system design, architecture, and technical decision-making for scalable cloud-based applications
• Oversee the delivery of software solutions ensuring quality, reliability, security, and alignment with business objectives
• Drive adoption of engineering best practices including agile methodologies, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and DevOps principles
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve applications, development processes, architecture, and infrastructure
• Collaborate with stakeholders to challenge existing processes and develop innovative solutions
• Coach and support engineers through technical challenges and career development
• Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations to leadership
• Analyze team performance, technical debt, and platform needs
• Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with product leaders, architects, and engineering leaders
