Job Title: HVAC Pipefitter Job Description

This role focuses on installing, assembling, and testing HVAC piping systems on commercial new construction projects. The HVAC Pipefitter works as part of a mechanical construction team to install chilled water, hot water, condenser water, and refrigerant piping systems, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The position is ideal for someone with 1 to 3 years of pipefitting experience who is eager to grow a long-term career in commercial mechanical construction.

• Install chilled water, hot water, condenser water, and refrigerant piping systems on commercial construction projects.
• Read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and blueprints to plan and execute piping installation work.
• Measure, cut, thread, groove, and assemble piping materials using appropriate tools and methods.
• Perform and assist with pressure testing of piping systems to verify integrity and compliance with project specifications.
• Assist with HVAC system startup and installation of related equipment as directed by project leadership.
• Fabricate piping and supports as needed to meet project design and field conditions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively in daily work.
• Work closely with foremen, journeymen, and other trades to coordinate tasks and meet project schedules.
• Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures and maintain strong safety awareness on the job.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, including proper storage and handling of materials and tools.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and teamwork to support project goals.
• Lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds and work in various construction site conditions, including standing, bending, and working at heights.
• Drive from the Palmdale area to assigned jobsites in Palmdale and Los Angeles as required for project work.
• Use plumbing and soldering skills to install hot water piping coils and related components.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress, issues, and safety concerns.

• 1 to 3 years of commercial HVAC pipefitting or mechanical construction experience.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC pipe installation in commercial construction environments.
• Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Experience working with copper, steel, and grooved piping systems.
• Proficiency in copper brazing, soldering, and general piping installation techniques.
• Ability to perform pipe fabrication, including measuring, cutting, threading, and grooving.
• Experience with refrigerant piping installation and related HVAC systems.
• Skilled in the safe and effective use of hand tools and power tools.
• Experience assisting with or performing pressure testing of piping systems.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to following safety procedures.
• Reliable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various construction site conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to provide and use personal tools appropriate for HVAC pipefitting work.

• Commercial construction experience in mechanical or HVAC trades.
• Plumbing experience related to hot water piping coils and associated systems.
• Soldering experience for piping and coil connections.
• General piping experience across different materials and applications.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn and take direction.
• Interest in building a long-term career in commercial mechanical construction.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with foremen, journeymen, and other trades on busy job sites.

This is a full-time HVAC Pipefitter role in a commercial construction setting, working primarily on new construction projects. Typical hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. Work begins in the Palmdale area, with daily travel from Palmdale to various jobsites in Palmdale and Los Angeles. The position is structured as a six-month contract-to-hire opportunity, with the intent to transition to a long-term role based on performance and project needs. The work environment is active and physically demanding, involving lifting up to 50 pounds, working in a variety of construction site conditions, and using a range of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment. Reliable transportation is required to reach jobsites, and you must bring and use your own tools appropriate for HVAC pipefitting tasks. The setting emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and cooperation among trades on busy commercial job sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palmdale, CA.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
