Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced oncology RN for a 17-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details

• Acute care oncology unit (7th floor) in a hospital setting, with 29 beds
• Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care
• Occasionally, outpatient area patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment if the outpatient area closes
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
• Charge nurse is staffed outside of the grid under normal circumstances
• Telemetry is present (central monitor); ability to read strips is not required
• Charting is done in MEDITECH
• 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to medical acute is rare
• Holiday rotation with staff required
• 17-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Georgia or a Compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA required)
• NIHSS certification preferred; ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy
• Minimum 2 years of oncology (specialty) experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement

• 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Caribbean blue scrubs required
• Candidates employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
• Requested time off must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment to be considered
• Holidays are rotated with permanent staff
