Job Summary

• Assist patients with selecting frames 
• Obtain measurements for glasses orders
• Adjust frames and lenses to fit correctly on patients faces
• Order frames, lenses and contacts from prescription laboratories
• Manage inventory of frames 

Responsibilities 

• Assist patients in selection of best eyewear for their individual needs
• Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient’s individual needs. 
• Measure patient’s pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes.
• Place orders for frames, lenses and contacts from prescription laboratories
• Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using pliers and hands.
• Maintain records of frame inventory, invoices and patient orders
• Verify that finished lenses are ground to specifications.

Skills

• Friendly customer service and skilled ophthalmic sales
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly for interpreting prescriptions and checking lenses
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to patients
• Familiarity with optical products
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to meet deadlines

Experience
3+ years as dispensing optician
ABO Certification (preferred)
VSP Billing (preferred)
