Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Job Summary Provides nursing care to laboring patients and their newborns throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods. Monitors maternal and fetal well-being, assists with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and supports patients through labor and delivery. Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required) Minimum 1-2 years of labor and delivery or obstetric nursing experience (Preferred) Licenses & Certifications Current RN license in state of practice (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (Required) Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (Preferred) Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification (Preferred) Key Responsibilities Monitors maternal vital signs and fetal heart rate patterns throughout labor. Administers medications, including oxytocin and pain management, per physician orders. Assists with vaginal deliveries and provides support during cesarean sections. Provides immediate newborn assessment and care following delivery. Educates patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum recovery.
