Base Pay $26.00 / Hour Job Category Shop Employee Type Full-Time Non-Exempt Required Degree High school Manage Others No Overview The Heavy Equipment Welder is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, repair, and reinforcement work on heavy construction equipment, attachments, and related components. This position performs repairs on buckets, blades, cutting edges, booms, arms, frames, and other structural equipment parts in both shop and field environments. The Heavy Equipment Welder must be able to safely operate welding and cutting equipment, diagnose repair needs, and produce high-quality repairs that support the safe and efficient operation of company equipment. This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of welding experience, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record. Essential Functions Perform welding, fabrication, rebuilding, and repair of heavy construction equipment, attachments, and related components. Repair and reinforce buckets, cutting edges, blades, booms, stick arms, frames, and other structural equipment components. Cut, fit, grind, shape, and prepare metal materials using torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other fabrication tools. Perform hard facing and wear-resistant welding repairs as required. Read and interpret work orders, repair specifications, blueprints, and measurements. Inspect damaged equipment and determine appropriate repair methods. Operate MIG, TIG, stick, flux-core, and other welding equipment as required. Perform field welding and emergency repairs at construction job sites when needed. Safely operate company vehicles and travel to project locations. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in safe operating condition. Inspect completed welds and repairs to ensure quality, structural integrity, and compliance with company standards. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials, and labor as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of welding and fabrication experience. Experience welding and repairing heavy construction equipment, heavy machinery, or similar industrial equipment preferred. Experience rebuilding buckets, attachments, and structural components preferred. Clean driving record required. AWS certification preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and fabrication methods. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and repair specifications. Knowledge of construction equipment components and repair methods. Ability to troubleshoot and determine proper repair solutions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship. Ability to safely operate welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces. Frequently required to reach, grasp, push, pull, and use hand tools. Regularly required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier materials with assistance or mechanical equipment. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Regular exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, vibration, welding fumes, sparks, grease, and moving machinery. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including welding helmet, respirator, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel‑toe boots, and other required PPE. Safety Responsibilities Comply with all company safety policies and procedures. Properly inspect, use, and maintain required PPE. Follow all hot work permit procedures and fire prevention requirements. Report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, and equipment defects immediately.
