About Our Church

Nazareth Baptist Church, located at 5800 Palisade Avenue, West New York, NJ, is located in Hudson County, NJ,  just 3 miles from downtown Manhattan, NY. We are seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) full-time assistant pastor to serve alongside our senior pastor, Pablo Flores (28 years of service), and two part-time assistant pastors: Oscar Yunez, assistant pastor for young adults, and Dan Occhiogrosso, assistant pastor for the English-speaking congregation.

We are a congregation approaching 60 years of ministry, which we will celebrate in September 2025. We affirm The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (BFM 2000) as our statement of faith.
Most of our members are Hispanic, but we maintain a strong bilingual outreach to children, youth, and adults. We have a membership of approximately 650, gathering weekly in three services: Spanish at 9:00 AM, English at 11:00 AM, and Spanish again at 1:00 PM. Our services are streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.

We offer a range of discipleship, outreach, and training ministries, including: Small Groups; Sunday School; Bible Institute; children’s, youth, men’s, and women’s ministries; a Community Food Ministry; English as a Second Language (ESL); a Prayer Ministry, and other service-oriented ministries for our congregation.

We are a fully cooperating church with the Southern Baptist Convention, affiliated with the North Jersey Network Association (NJ Net) and the Baptist Convention of New York (BCNY). We own our sanctuary, educational building, and parsonage. The church is debt-free.

Assistant Pastor Position Description

We are seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) full-time assistant pastor who affirms the BFM 2000; has between 6 to 10 years of pastoral experience; is a graduate of an evangelical seminary—preferably a Southern Baptist seminary—or has at least seminary-level theological education. The candidate should be married.

We are looking for a candidate with an evangelistic and discipleship-driven heart, who loves Christ and His church, who faithfully preaches the Word of God and who supports the mission cause.
The Assistant Pastor will be responsible for supporting the Senior Pastor in preaching, spiritual leadership, discipleship, and pastoral care of the congregation. He will also play a key role in developing and strengthening the ministries of the church.

Key Responsibilities
❖    Preaching and Teaching
➢   Share in preaching duties during regular services as assigned.
➢   Lead Bible studies and discipleship classes.
❖    Pastoral Care
➢   Visit members in hospitals and homes.
➢   Provide biblical/pastoral counseling to individuals and families.
❖    Ministry Development
➢   Support and lead specific ministries according to the church’s needs.
➢   Train and supervise volunteers and ministry leaders.
➢   Be willing to work as part of a team.
❖    Administration and Coordination
➢   Collaborate in planning church events and programs.
➢   Support general administration and maintain communication with the congregation.

Compensation and Benefits*
