GI Anesthesiologist Opportunity

The Cumberland Valley Surgery Center is a same-day, multispecialty surgery center based in Hagerstown, MD. It is the longest-serving facility of its type for the community. The center features two treatment rooms providing local/monitored anesthesia care, one operating room designed for procedures requiring general anesthesia, a preoperative area, and a post-anesthesia care area.

Shifts are Monday-Friday (8-hour shifts). No call. No weekends.

Team leadership is provided by Marwan Wiggins, Chief Anesthesiologist.

Responsibilities include assisting in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department, responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures. Pre-anesthesia assessment, obtaining and/or verifying patient consent, discussing anesthetic options and risks with the patient, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, monitoring of the patient's physiological condition, and performance of clinical intervention as needed.

Requirements include an M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine, ECFMG and FLEX completion, completion of an approved residency in anesthesia, and currently being licensed as a physician.

Hagerstown, MD is located approximately 70 miles from the city of Baltimore, MD, in Maryland's north-central region. The town is situated in Cumberland Valley, between the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and the Allegheny Mountain Range.
