Mechanical Engineering Intern

Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to work with a project team and assist in the analysis of building system (HVAC, Central Plants, envelope, etc.) projects for our Denver, CO office for Summer 2027 .

Responsibilities

The position requires a strong technical background, excellence in energy and thermal analysis, attention to detail and quality control, and the ability to work in a team environment. Job duties will include some combination of energy studies (such as energy audits, retrocommissioning, etc.), energy and thermal calculations, identification of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs), energy / decarbonization reports, and field work under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer. The candidate should be able to work in diverse teams and be successful in interacting with project team members, clients, and contractors. Written and oral communication and organizational skills are important throughout the design and construction process.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or similar equivalent
• Previous internship with a consulting engineering firm, a plus
• Experience with energy modeling software is a plus.
• A valid driver's license is required. Occasional travel might be required.

Salary Range

$18.75/hour - $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Summer Intern Program


During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.

• Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
