Job Title: Weekend Shift Orbital Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on performing orbital and hand welding on stainless steel tubing and fittings in a Class 100 cleanroom environment. You will complete an initial day-shift training period before transitioning to a weekend shift schedule, operating orbital welding systems, supporting production goals, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Complete a one-month day shift training program to learn orbital welding processes, safety practices, and production procedures.
• Perform basic set-ups and operate orbital weld systems for stainless steel and aluminum vacuum fittings ranging from one-eighth to one-half inch.
• Perform mechanical set-ups and changeovers on orbital welding machines to support different products and configurations.
• Operate orbital welding equipment and related systems safely and in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Work under normal to moderate supervision while consistently meeting quality and productivity expectations.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with cleanroom and safety standards.
• Prioritize tasks and execute work to meet production schedules and commitments as directed by leads and supervisors.
• Work from production schedules, shop orders, established procedures, blueprints, schematics, and product specifications.
• Fit, align, and precisely orbital weld products to meet product, customer, and workmanship standards.
• Identify deviations or issues that could interrupt productivity and communicate them promptly.
• Maintain logs, records, and other necessary documentation related to production and inspection activities.
• Measure and verify dimensions using inspection tooling such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other approved hand gauges.
• Process and inspect parts in accordance with technical prints and specifications.
• Collaborate with Engineering to develop and refine advanced welding processes as needed.
• Assist team members in achieving departmental standards, including quality goals and on-time delivery targets.
• Handle fragile products carefully while performing repetitive tasks and maintaining safety awareness.
• Read and interpret testing and measuring instruments, record test results accurately, and write related reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support production and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a cleanroom environment, preferably Class 100.
• Ability to perform orbital welding and hand welding on stainless steel and aluminum components.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical set-ups and changeovers on orbital welding machines.
• Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tooling to verify dimensions and component quality.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and product specifications.
• Comfort using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle small, fragile components and perform precise welds.
• Ability to handle fragile products, perform repetitive tasks, and maintain high safety awareness.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in day-to-day tasks.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 35 lbs as required by the role.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical correspondence and documents.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and decimals.
• Ability to read testing and measuring instruments, record test results accurately, and prepare related reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Orbital welding experience is a plus.
• Prior experience working in a Class 100 cleanroom is highly beneficial.
• Experience collaborating with Engineering or technical teams to develop or improve processes.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed logs and production documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and on-time delivery.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in a Class 100 cleanroom environment, handling precision stainless steel and aluminum components for semiconductor-related equipment. The role begins with approximately one month of day shift training, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. After training, you will transition to a weekend shift schedule, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a shift differential for weekend hours. You will regularly use orbital welding systems, hand and power tools, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and cleanroom protocols, including appropriate cleanroom attire and protective equipment as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
