Plesh Electric has been doing electrical work in New Jersey for 30 years. Residential and commercial — panels, service upgrades, generator installations, rewires, and new construction. WHAT THE WORK ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
Youre on a job site in northern NJ. Its January. The crawl space is tight, the panel is from 1987, and the homeowner has already rescheduled twice. You pull your truck in on time, document the existing conditions before you touch anything, execute the installation clean and to code, take photos by phase, and leave the site in better shape than you found it. No one told you to do any of that. You just did it because thats what the work requires.

This job involves physical work — bending conduit in cold weather, pulling wire in attics and crawl spaces, lifting equipment, and standing on ladders for hours. Generator installations require precision under time pressure when a homeowners been without power. Service upgrades in older homes mean problem-solving on the fly when the drawings dont match reality.

WHAT YOU NEED
Required: NJ Electrician License, 3+ years of field experience, valid drivers license with a clean record, ability to read blueprints
You do NOT need: Generator experience (well certify you), solar experience, a perfect resume

THE PROCESS
Application - 48-hour review - 15-min phone screen - Character questions via email - 45-min performance interview - Ride-along - Decision

Compensation: $25 - $38 hourly

Responsibilities: Execute residential and commercial electrical installations — panels, service upgrades, generator hookups, rewires — from rough-in to final inspection without supervision
Read and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings; identify and flag discrepancies before they become rework
Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, including high-voltage systems, without waiting to be directed to the problem
Document every job phase with photos and field notes so the next person has everything they need without asking
Keep the truck, the tools, and the job site clean and organized — every job site reflects the company
Communicate proactively with customers and the team — give real updates before anyone has to ask
Mentor apprentices on the Plesh standard — demonstrate what right looks like, dont tolerate shortcuts

Qualifications: Required:
NJ Journeyman Electrician License (or equivalent)
3+ years of residential and/or commercial electrical field experience
Valid NJ drivers license with a clean driving record
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
Physical capability for full-range field work (crawl spaces, attics, ladders, heavy equipment)

You do NOT need:
Prior generator installation experience (manufacturer certification provided by the company)
Solar installation experience
Frame carpentry experience
A degree or formal trade school credential beyond licensure
