Processing and Packaging Manager

The shift for this role is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm on site in Hagerstown, MD. Growing medical and recreational cannabis manufacturers on the East Coast. Processing & Packaging Manager Our Processing & Packaging Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the automated trimming process as well as packaging of finished goods, while partnering with the Cultivation and Harvest Supervisor to complete bucking-related tasks. Additional responsibilities include consistently executing weekly production schedule, maintaining compliance in both the trim and packaging room locations, as well as bucking related tasks. They will assist the Cultivation Tech team with operations involving automated mobius trim equipment and the Packaging Team with tasks related to the bagging machine, troubleshooting machine issues, and the accurate entry of all METRC and Acumatica transactions. The Processing & Packaging Manager will help guide the Cultivation Tech and Packaging Team effectively in a high-paced and demanding environment while supervising the day-to-day trim, packaging, and bucking processes in accordance with company standards. Your role in caring for our company: Department Management & Execution Maintain clean working environment and ensure safety and compliance. Responsible for following all standard operating procedures (SOP) operational guidelines, verbal directives, training information, and policies when performing duties. Supervise the Cultivation Tech and Packaging Team to ensure SOPS and quality control are being properly followed. Ensure equipment is clean and calibrated at start of day, between strains, and end of day. Overseeing cleaning of stations and scale machines in accordance with state regulations and company standards. Ensure equipment maintenance and cleaning logs are completed and accurate. Maintain daily production logs and report information to management. Verify start weight and end weight of source package, as well as piece count for all unit-based inventory. Confirm all packaging is compliant prior to transportation; verify that all products are labeled and sealed properly with all required information. Analyze data collected during each phase of the trim and packaging process to prevent divergence. Accurately complete the Harvest Tracker upon the completion of each harvest batch. Track the production speed of individual associates and maintain weekly production goals. Identify issues with the machines in partnership with machine operators and work through solutions in partnership with management and facilities. Assist Cultivation and Harvest Supervisor in supervision and data capture for bucking related processes. Complete all METRC and Acumatica data entry in real time following process completion. Create lab testing batches and R&D samples. Provide direct support for all associates. Must be comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures from 55°-85°. Team Leadership & Performance Analytics Foster a culture of professionalism, guiding teams to achieve optimal results. Understand and own every aspect of the team's performance; set targets, drive execution, and hold the team accountable for both individual and team results. Collaborate effectively with the Human Resources Department and appropriate partners to implement and manage the company's policies and procedures. Partner with the Human Resources Department to monitor staff performance, provide timely feedback, along with development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct monthly performance evaluation. Retain and develop top performers by understanding individual's motivations and providing actionable feedback. Addresses low performance quickly, compassionately, and in alignment with company policies. Manage employees' scheduling, basic time off requests, performance reviews, etc. All other duties as necessary. Qualifications we ask you to have: For legal reasons, all employees need to be at least 21 years of age. You will be asked to pass a Federal and State criminal history background check. We ask that you have at least a high school diploma/GED. We ask that you have a minimum of five (5) years of management experience. We ask that you have excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve, personal integrity, and business acumen. We ask that you have at least three (3) years of industry experience, preferably packaging or trimming experience. We ask that you have at least one (1) year of METRC experience. We ask that you have at least one (1) year of ERP system experience. We ask that you have at least two (2) years of data entry experience. You are willing and able to step over 28-inch-tall rails. Must be able to regularly handle plant materials and use nitrile gloves; this position requires daily exposure to cannabis plants and nitrile gloves. Additional skills which will help you excel in your role: Ability and comfort with using power-operated machine tools. Comfortable using technology/computers to operate machine(s). Comfortable working around high-speed machinery. Comfortable with heights (up to 12 feet). Strong attention to detail and accuracy, our machinery is imperative to the lifecycle and proper care of our plants! Ability to foster collaboration, be a team player, though also independent and self-motivated. Coachable and can take full ownership of personal development, regularly soliciting feedback from teammates including those supervising, colleagues, and supervisor/s. Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Maintain open communication with the management team and other co-workers. Strong work ethic, integrity, and desire to be accountable, transparent, and proactive. Ability to work at a fast pace in a high production environment! Work Schedule/Location: On-site 5 days a week. This position is similar to an assembly line, in that it will be completing repetitive tasks throughout the workday. This position requires the ability to work in a cannabis growing facility, there will be strong odors, bright lights, and various noises throughout the workday. This position will require PPE to be worn throughout the workday to include scrubs, masks, gloves, and hairnets while working with the plants. DCM will provide scrubs, gloves, and hair nets to all employees.
