Position Information: Title: Preclinical Faculty, Periodontics/Dental Hygiene (Evergreen position) Campus: Sacramento Department: Department of Periodontics Posting Number: F00869 Full or Part Time: Part Time Open Date: 05/03/2024 Close Date: Open Until Filled Primary Purpose and Essential Functions Responsible for providing didactic, pre‑clinical periodontal content and supervising pre‑clinical student learning experiences in the discipline. Pacific faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service. Responsibilities Didactic instruction involving periodontal pre‑clinical content. Provide simulation exercises to support the pre‑clinical courses. Participate in outcomes assessment, including student and peer evaluation, to improve curricular content and presentation. Engage broadly in other school, university, professional, and community service opportunities. Maintain a culture of humanism and collaboration. Some travel to San Francisco may be required for calibration, faculty development, or other needs as determined by the Department chair. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of comprehensive periodontal examination requirements. Knowledge of universal and area‑specific instrumentation of teeth. Knowledge of pre‑clinical teaching methodology. Education Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program. Licenses/Certifications Active RDH license. Valid CPR certification. Preferred Qualifications – Ability To Communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients, students, staff, faculty and administration. Work independently with minimal supervision. Work effectively in a group setting. Reflect, self‑assess, and think critically. Maintain confidentiality of information. Demonstrate professional judgment in all situations. Experience Previous teaching or practice experience is preferred. Minimum of one year practice experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work. Physical Requirements Faculty should have sufficient motor function to execute movements essential to teaching and demonstration. Must be able to operate controls, use high‑speed or low‑speed dental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, and use hand instrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures. Hiring Range $30 per hour. Compensation may vary based on scope, responsibilities, qualifications, internal equity, market and organizational considerations. Additional Information Application will be active for up to 6 months within the temporary pool.
