Position Overview
A warm, welcoming family in South Salem, NY is seeking a dependable, experienced part-time nanny for a long-term, multi-year role. Care will focus mainly on their 1-year-old son. Their 3-year-old son attends preschool during the day. The ideal candidate is attentive, nurturing, and a strong communicator who can keep the baby safe, engaged, and on a healthy routine. The family's home sits on a walking trail, so there will be plenty of stroller outings.
Benefits: Guaranteed hours per week, one week of paid vacation, 2 paid sick days, all federal holidays paid
Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive, engaging, and safe care for a 1-year-old
- Support and help establish the baby's nap routine as it transitions
- Prepare meals and snacks for the baby
- Handle the baby's laundry and keep his clothing organized during nap times
- Take the baby on daily stroller walks and outdoor outings
- Plan age-appropriate play and developmental activities
- Take occasional local outings, such as to the library, in the family's vehicle once trust is established
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the family about the day, routines, and any concerns
Requirements:
- Proven long-term nanny or childcare work history
- Experience caring for infants and toddlers
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid driver's license
- Comfortable with a cat in the home
- Strong, proactive communication skills
- Respectful, reliable, and punctual
- Must be able to provide 3–5 professional references
