Responsibilities Responsible for developing healthy students and community: A Mancos School District Elementary Teacher cultivates a warm and welcoming learning environment and is responsible for building a culture of trust, belonging, and social‑emotional safety. The teacher is responsible for fostering a classroom where taking risks is encouraged while ensuring every student feels respected and empowered. To support this growth, the teacher actively engages families as essential partners, maintaining open communication and involving them in the celebration of their child’s growth and learning. Responsible for creating an engaging learning environment: A Mancos Elementary School Teacher is a “designer of learning” who moves beyond a traditional approach to create an active, engaging learning environment. The teacher will work closely with colleagues to facilitate immersive learning that connects core subjects to real‑world challenges, guiding students to investigate, analyze, and create. By acting as a mentor and coach, the teacher provides the scaffolding and feedback necessary for students to meet and exceed grade‑level standards and produce high‑quality work. Through data‑informed instruction, the teacher consistently assesses progress to ensure every student is supported in reaching their full potential. This position is a .6 or a .75 FTE with the possibility of benefits. Job Requirements Utilize effective teaching practices to teach the adopted curriculum for assigned grades and subjects so that students attain the adopted grade/course expectations and standards. Modify and tailor the curriculum as necessary to address individual student differences, learning styles, and student abilities while ensuring access to grade‑level standards. Instruct with district‑adopted materials and use supplemental classroom materials, media, and teaching methods appropriate for assigned levels and subjects. Incorporate and adhere to an inquiry‑based, project‑based learning approach, when appropriate, providing students with real‑world, hands‑on experiences that enhance their understanding of new concepts and allow for productive struggle. Foster a safe and respectful classroom environment that cultivates a love of learning and supports student success through effective behavior management and social‑emotional development strategies. Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co‑workers, supervisors, and other school staff. Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with licensing guidelines and program policies. Demonstrate a growth mindset by engaging in top‑tier professional development and actively contributing to the evaluation process through goal setting, reflection, and the adoption of innovative strategies. Attend parent conferences and project‑based learning exhibitions. Demonstrate content knowledge and educational best practices to support student learning. Meet all legal requirements, including timelines for professional practices such as, but not limited to, IEPs, ICAPs, 504, and RtI. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area from an accredited university. Teaching credential/certificate/license in Physical Education. Master’s degree preferred. TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills. Strong decision‑making, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work with students with diverse needs at various levels. Ability to work and build positive relationships with school staff, families, and youth. Ability to communicate and coordinate with a variety of school and community groups. Commitment to collaborating and progress monitoring with colleagues and partners to achieve desired results. Be flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to interact and work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records in compliance with confidentiality laws, including FERPA. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado Teaching Certificate. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must pass various pre‑employment background screenings, required at entry. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP AND DIRECTION/GUIDANCE: Reports to Building Principal. Direct Reports: Responsible for supervising the behavior and well‑being of students in the classroom, in the hallways, on the playground, getting on and off the bus, at recess, during lunch, and to and from classes. MATTERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE: Operating knowledge of and experience with computers, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and student information systems.
