Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician III – Sysco, Mayville, ND Shift: 3rd Shift – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6pm to 6am (3×12 paid for 40) Pay: Up to $26.25–$40.10 per hour, based on experience Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $12,500 Additional Benefits: $2 Shift Differential, Uniforms paid, $600 Annual Tool Allowance, Annual Boot Allowance, OEM / Thermo King / EPA training provided Job Summary Provide safe, reliable, and cost‑efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, expert diagnosis, and repairs to prevent breakdowns, reduce downtime and improve fleet reliability. Responsibilities Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances. Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light‑duty vehicles and other company‑owned equipment in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigerated units, lift‑gates and light‑duty vehicles. Diagnose and repair refrigeration units (Reefer) and other systems as required. Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write‑ups in a timely and efficient manner. Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications—engines, transmissions, clutches, drive‑lines, differential, steering, suspension, fuel & ignition system, exhaust, intake, electrical, brake, HVAC systems, lift‑gate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems. Document all work performed on work orders. Mentor and share expertise with Fleet Technician I and II to aid in their development. May perform moderate supervisory roles when Fleet Manager or Supervisors are not available. Perform electrical meter testing, assess DC controls, and complete electric repairs and welding projects as required. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Current and valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, not required). Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training: 2‑year school and 4 years of experience or 5 years of fleet maintenance and repair experience. Annual Inspector Certification (Brake Inspector) and ASE certifications for automotive or medium/heavy duty trucks. EPA Section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification. Expert knowledge of all vehicle systems and components, diagnosis and repair of electrical and refrigeration systems. Moderate skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG), moderate computer skills and knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations. Proficiency with computer‑based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers. Must provide own tools; Sysco will provide diagnostic equipment and major tools. Physical Demands Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, and operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone. Occasionally lift and move up to 20lbs; often lift and move up to 100lbs. Perform repetitive motion with hand tools. Require close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate various equipment, push/pull, lift/carry, grasp tools, stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Working Conditions Work occurs outdoors and may be in wet, hot, extreme cold, or humid conditions. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, confined spaces, high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Non‑traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on‑call. Possible travel to other operating companies or corporate office as business needs dictate.
