Registered Nurse (RN) - Wound Care

Registered Nurse (RN, Outpatient Wound Care) Fulltime: Days Schedule : Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm; No nights, weekends or holidays. Responsibilities Perform patient care within the scope of practice as an RN and keep complete and accurate patient records related to assessment, treatment, and documentation of care in a timely manner. Assist in the coordination of wound care patients and the day-to-day operation of the wound care program. Maintain competencies, continuing education, and certifications appropriate to the position. Participate in quality assurance programs, safety program, and in the discussion and review of articles in the field of wound care. Assess wound care patients within institutional policy guidelines and the patient's level of functioning at admission, transfer, and discharge. Use professional judgment in day-to-day problem-solving and decision-making, seeking assistance from the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and peers as needed. Assess the patient's educational needs and develop a plan to meet those needs; assist others as needed. Develop discharge plans and communicate needs to team members. Follow the plan of care in collaboration with the patient care team and review discharge care with the patient, family, physician, and other team members. Administer medications and treatments according to patient needs, physician orders, and policies consistent with the scope of care for an RN. Participate in patient and family conferences as a member of the patient care team. Provide patient teaching to deliver new information in accordance with policy. Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, physician, and other caregivers to provide effective patient care. Document care in appropriate forms and the EHR in a timely manner; ensure patients and families understand the team roles. Delegate tasks appropriately to team members. Evaluate the patient's response to treatment, progress on the plan of care, and continued learning needs, providing feedback to the Nurse Manager. Demonstrate flexibility to meet staffing needs and use scheduling guidelines to identify staff requirements. Participate in new employee orientation and perform other duties as assigned. Maintain clinical expertise in wound care and participate in performance improvement activities. Qualifications Current RN licensed to practice in North Carolina. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire. One year of experience, preferably in wound care. Working understanding of the codes and regulations governing a wound care program. Previous wound care experience preferred.
