Clinical Interpreter Translator (Arabic) - Onsite, Monday-Friday Responsibilities Facilitate communication between physicians, nurses, volunteers, non-clinical staff, patients, patients’ families, and the community under the general direction of a licensed caregiver. Provide oral interpretation and written translation as needed. Maintain session statistics, service rounds, special projects, and office duties while assisting volunteers within the Medical Center. Document each session and complete required documentation after every interpretation session. Produce written translations such as instructions, letters from quality assurance, education materials, schedules, and patient questions, ensuring accurate conveyance of content. Complete special projects or other tasks in a timely manner according to departmental guidelines. Adapt to changes in unit procedures and policies and adhere to departmental guidelines. Provide appropriate referral or triage for identified remote medical interpreting programs. Process and maintain session documentation, including accurate session records and other work time documentation. Serve as a resource to physicians, nursing staff, and other staff members for clinical interpretation. Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned or required. Qualifications Two (2) or more years of experience translating, reading, and writing documents in English to Arabic within a medical setting, with full command of English and knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual in Arabic and English (speaking, writing, reading). High School Diploma or GED (required); Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, foreign languages, translation, interpretation, communication, or related field (preferred). Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) issued by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI) issued by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI), to be obtained within one year of the start date. Complete the Medical Center Interpreter Services Language Proficiency Assessment/Training Program within 90 days of the start date. Complete the Interpreter Training Program within 90 days of the start date. Cedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
