Foster City, CAVehicle Development – Vehicle Integration, Testing & Validation /Full-time /On-siteZoox is seeking a Staff Electrical Architecture System Engineer to join our Electrical Architecture team. Led by the Principal Architect, The Zoox Electrical Architecture Team is responsible for developing the power distribution, network topology and logical organization of ECUs to create the optimal autonomous robotaxi. In this role you will help develop electrical and electronic system architecture designs, best practices, and validation procedures for Zoox's ground-up autonomous vehicles. You will work with engineering leaders from various domains to capture their needs for low-voltage loads, system management and integrate these designs into the robotaxi. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, as you'll work with vehicle integration, firmware, and vehicle component development teams to deliver solutions.We are looking for an engineer that is passionate about developing a ground breaking Robotaxi, has a strong system engineering background, has extensive experience in vehicle network, power distribution, power modes and ECU function distribution. Strong system problem-solving skills, organizational talent and a commitment to deliver on time are also required.In this role, you will:Own the low-voltage power distribution system requirementsOwn the vehicle communication architecture requirementsOwn the power modes and power states requirementsWork with other system engineers and component owners in defining an architecture that supports their needsParticipate in tech reviews to evaluate potential suppliers and ensure proper application of Zoox hardware standardsExecute component performance analysis to maintain the total low-voltage system power needsDevelop verification strategy and provide guidance to the test team in execution of test planRoot cause analysis and impact assessment for field issues in power distribution and network area.QualificationsBS or MS in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience15 years of industry engineering experienceAt least 10 years of experience in vehicle electrical architectures, ECU HW base definitions, and vehicle power states functionalityAt least 3 years of experience in model based system engineering toolsAble to gather and organize information in an efficient and effective mannerUnderstanding of the Firmware development process for automotive ECUsExperience in development of wake and sleep functions for automotive ECUsBonus QualificationsFW development and verification methodologyProficient in ISO 26262 and its architectural enablersExperience in LIN, CAN FD, automotive ethernet,Experience with electronic fusingExperience with wiring harness design and reliabilityExperience with manufacturing requirements$204,000 - $280,000 a yearBase Salary RangeThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
