The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) represents a growing force of men and women in the United States and Canada who work in the Finishing Trades – Industrial & Commercial Painting, Drywall Finishing, Glazing & Glass Work, and Floor Covering Installation, and many more successful careers in the construction industry and public sector. 

About the Position
District Council 78 is seeking a bilingual Union Organizer to support organizing efforts across Florida. This is a field-based position focused on worker outreach, jobsite engagement, and campaign development within the painting, glazing, drywall, and allied trades.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct jobsite visits and outreach to workers and contractors
• Build relationships and develop worker leaders
• Support active organizing campaigns and initiatives
• Maintain daily activity, contact, and follow-up reports
• Work closely with District Council staff and leadership

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Willingness to travel statewide throughout Florida
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Previous organizing, outreach, or construction experience preferred
