Senior Manufacturing Support - Planner - 1st Shift

Career Area: Operations Job Description Senior Manufacturing Support – 1st Shift (Monday – Thursday 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Overtime as needed). Starting pay: $27.20/hour. As a Senior Manufacturing Support at Caterpillar Inc., you will directly support Manufacturing Engineers and assembly on the plant floor through the design and documentation of layout, tooling, fixtures, handling systems, safety, ergonomics, and other duties as assigned. Three IPV Planner positions and four Assembly Planner positions are available on 1st Shift. Responsibilities Troubleshoot IPV process, equipment, software, and related machine issues. Create tool lists for assembly. Provide tooling support to Compact Track Loader (CTL) Assembly Line as needed. Develop final work orders detailing processing steps, procedures, component parts, technical aspects of installation, and required tooling or fixtures. Perform changes and updates to standard work schedules and other assembly procedures based on Engineering/Assembly/Quality input. Follow and utilize Caterpillar Production System principles: 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work. Make independent decisions and solve problems to complete job tasks. Meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize work. Use engineering prints and release notices to develop production operation sequences and documents in GENEO. Develop layouts using CAD systems and identify material locations. Utilize systems such as CAD, GENEO, and Team Center. Provide summaries of leadership and contribute as a team member. Basic Requirements Problem-solving: analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. Communication: good skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts. Detail-oriented: meticulous attention to detail when performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation. Proficient computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to function as part of a team, be multi-trained, and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Ability to perform repetitive operations. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Preferred Qualifications (Top Candidates) Intermediate knowledge of Standard Assembly tools and their applications (can train others). Beginner/Novice proficiency in New Product Introduction (NPI) – some exposure while learning. At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. At least 1 year of experience in Project Management. Expert proficiency in recognizing or describing mechanical functions and specifications of products/parts. Expert proficiency working with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work. Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and geometries. Basic understanding of AutoCAD. 2- or 4-year technical degree (e.g., Manufacturing Technology, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering). Operations/Industrial Planning experience. Strong analytical skills and math background. Advanced computer and Caterpillar Systems knowledge. Location Sanford, NC.
