School Food Service Cashier - FG

Position Overview Work closely with the Food Service Manager and staff to collect and accurately account for cash received during food service sales, assist with Food Service Programs at the site, and support cashiering and food preparation duties. Essential Functions Collect and post money into student and staff accounts. Account for all funds and handle them as required. Answer phone messages, reply to emails, and make necessary calls to parents regarding accounts. Display thorough knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines and procedures. Collect and account for prepayment of student meals. Maintain appropriate change fund for registers. Accurately perform cashiering and end‑of‑day procedures. Assist in food preparation, cleanup, and occasional serving. Monitor lunch/breakfast selections to ensure Federal guidelines for reimbursable meals are met. May assist in placing orders and performing inventory. Ensure product quality by visual inspection to maintain customer satisfaction. Perform duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner as directed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Certification: Current Food Handler’s Certificate. Experience: Previous experience handling money is desired. Ability to make change and perform mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately. Ability to keep accurate records and operate computerized cash registers. Knowledge of and adherence to all District and Department policies, State and Federal regulations. Vision and hearing adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner. Read and write English as it pertains to job function. Function effectively as a team member, flexible, adaptable to change. Exercise positive problem‑solving behavior and conflict resolution skills. Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative, working relationships with students, staff and parents. Respond to all internal and external customers promptly, efficiently, friendly and patient. Adhere to the dress code appropriate to the site and job. Follow policies, guidelines, procedures and directives. Work with a large cross‑section of people in a professional and non‑judgmental manner. Share sensitive student and staff information on a need‑to‑know basis. Background Checks Must pass a criminal history background check and obtain/maintain a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times. Physical & Travel Requirements Travel between campuses is required from time to time. Must be able to lift objects up to 25 pounds on occasion. Position may require sitting for long periods, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and long periods of concentration.
