Experienced Surgical Technologist Cath Lab Monday-Friday 7:00a-5:30p 4 x 10's Job Description: The Surgical Technologist (ST) is a member of the surgical team responsible for providing intra-operative care to the Interventional Cardiology surgical patient. This job requires working in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on patient progression goals, quality initiatives and achieving the highest level of patient satisfaction. They will precept other staff and students. The ST functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse. Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: 1. Assists and collaborates with the Circulating nurse to set up for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment and supplies. 2. Primary role is as a ST, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon at the sterile field. 3. Anticipates needs of surgical team during the procedure and provides them with proper instruments, equipment, supplies to meet these needs. 4. Assists in the care, cleaning and maintenance of all general and specialty instruments, equipment and supplies according to established guidelines, policies and procedures. 5. Collaborates with the Circulating nurse to insure the accuracy of all sponge, sharps and instrument counts according to established policies and procedures. 6. Responsible for application of the principles of aspesis to maintain integrity of the sterile field. 7. Participates in the quality improvement/quality assurance process at the unit level. 8. Communicates effectively 9. Parallel Processing in collaboration with circulating nurse/team staff to achieve and maintain turnover goals and on-time starts. 10. Actively participates in performing the essential components of the WHO Checklist, hand hygiene, and other department safety and quality initiatives. 11. Must be able to take assignment of “on-call” for specified nights, weekends and holidays. 12. Handles specimens according to policy and procedure 13. Incorporates Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities 14. Complies with all Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Policies 15. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Hospital and Medical Center 16. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients 17. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment 18. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards 19. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities. 20. Successfully completes Mandatory Education. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certification Preferred. New Hires must obtain certification within one month of hire. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards. Experience: Greater than one year of experience. Pay Range: $36.23 - $53.83 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
