Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Payroll Specialist Job Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time Schedule: Hybrid or On-site (flexible based on location) Compensation: Competitive salary + benefits Overview Cherry Bekaert Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support end-to-end payroll processing for a growing organization. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and experienced with multi-state payroll environments. Key Responsibilities Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state employee population Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, bonuses, commissions, and deductions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Maintain payroll records and assist with audits and reporting requirements Support tax filings, garnishments, benefits deductions, and direct deposit processing Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end close activities Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries Assist with year-end processing, including W-2s and related reporting Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience) 2+ years of payroll processing experience Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Workday, Paylocity, or similar Strong Excel skills and ability to handle large data sets High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality Preferred Experience Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus Experience in high-volume or fast-paced environments Exposure to HRIS systems and benefits administration Experience in industries such as professional services, nonprofit, or government contracting Why Apply Stable, direct hire opportunity with growth potential Collaborative and team-oriented environment Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits Opportunity to build expertise across payroll and HR functions IND4 #J-18808-Ljbffr
