Job Description
The Cook prepares and serves nutritious meals for assisted-living residents while following established menus, supporting special dietary needs, and maintaining high standards for food safety and sanitation. Reporting to the Facility Administrator, this role provides daily dining-room support, coordinates with residents, and may suggest menu changes or create daily menus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare meals and execute established menus.
- Suggest menu changes and create daily menus as needed.
- Support texture-modified, diabetic, and allergy-sensitive diets.
- Follow dietary requirements and maintain portion control.
- Apply food safety and sanitation procedures throughout meal preparation and service.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation and manage ingredient inventory.
- Provide meal service and daily dining-room support.
- Coordinate with residents regarding meal service and dietary needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Entry-level experience in institutional food preparation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Food Handler certification.
- ServSafe certification.
- Knowledge of food preparation, modified diets, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Experience with portion control and inventory management.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
