Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

Barney Enterprises is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, process and analysis to drive financial compliance and strategic decision making. The senior accountant’s role demands strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, employed through cross-collaborative efforts and mentorship of more junior accounting roles.

What you'll bring to the table: (Responsibilities)

• Performing monthly and fiscal year-end close activities by performing timely and accurate journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, bank statement reconciliations, ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.
• Prepare intercompany inventory transfer reconciliations.
• Maintain depreciation schedules for all company locations.
• Preparing and analyzing financial statements, general ledgers, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, as well as forecasting future expenditures.
• Assisting with tax return preparation and in some limited cases tax return filing.
• Lead accounts payable process to ensure proper coding and receipt of all invoices.
• Continually seeking and implementing opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with proper governmental accounting requirements.
• Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.

Do you have the right mix of ingredients: (Requirements)

• A bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA Preferred.
• Must have at least 5 years' experience in accounting.
• Demonstrates strong technical accounting skills and an advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
• Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
• Proficient in ProSeries Tax software.
• Can manage a high volume of tasks and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication is important for interacting with internal and external contacts.

• This is a full time, exempt position, and the base compensation for this opening is expected to be $95,000-$115,000 annualized, depending on level, candidate experience, skills and other factors.

• This position is full time in the office. Three days a week at the office located in Crown Point and 2 days a week at the office located in Valparaiso.
