With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.Shifts:1st Shift (Assembly area): 5:30am - 2:00pm with daily and weekend OT as needed2nd Shift (Assembly): 4:30pm - 1:00am with daily and weekend OT as needed2nd Shift (Metal Fab): 2:45pm – 11:15pm with daily and weekend OT as neededPay Rate: $31.93 Plus Shift Differential for 2nd Shift: $2.00 per hourWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:The position will be responsible tacking and solid welding of a water tight weld on Stainless Steel Cold Water Basin.The role may assume additional duties as assigned for the complete process of the welded basin which may include performing basin modification or sub assembly to support the assembly line.The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, able to follow instructions well, and work well in a team atmosphere.Activities / Tasks:Pull partsInterpret build orders and engineering drawings correctlyReference engineering drawings to perform solid or tack weldingUse welding equipment, tape measures, and hand tools safely and effectivelyPut on cart or fixture for next stationPerform maintenance on torch when neededIdentify parts using the build orderMeasure using a tape measurer for correct position for the component being installed on the cooling towerPick correct template in coordination with the build order or engineering drawingAccurately perform any necessary cutting within the cooling tower by using the correct template and appropriate cutting tool (reference assembly manual for modification instructions)Grind edges using grinderPerform welding based upon tower and/or engineering specsPerform leak testingUse an overhead craneSkills and Abilities:Ability to adapt to change and flex his/her work at appropriate times so as to support the assembly processAbility to correctly use measuring tools and grinderAbility to correctly use crane and air floatAbility to correctly and safely use other hand tools (both manual and pneumatic)Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standardsAbility to apply shop mathematics to solve problemsAbility to plan work and select proper toolsAbility to compare and accurately determine difference in size, shape, and form of objectsAbility to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracyAbility to interpret build orders and engineering drawings correctlyAbility to operate impact gun and torque wrenchAbility to multi-taskAbility to work well with othersAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to follow and understand directionsEducation & experience:High school diploma or GED preferred, but not requiredAWS D1.1 and AWS D1.2 welding qualified preferred, but not requiredPrevious Stainless Steel Welding experience on 11 gauge through 18 gauge preferred, but not requiredPrevious welding experiencePhysical requirements:Lifting up to 50 pounds; 50+ pounds with assistanceSitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, working at heights, and using a ladder as requiredAbility of using both hands overheadPerform repetitive motionsPlant environment with potential exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, and excessive noiseHow we live our culture:Our culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
