The Lead Kitter oversees daily kitting operations to ensure all production jobs receive accurate, complete, and timely kits. This role provides hands‑on support while coordinating priorities, training kitting staff, resolving inventory discrepancies, and maintaining workflow efficiency. The Lead Kitter acts as the primary point of contact between Kitting, Assembly, and Purchasing to prevent delays and uphold IMP’s quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Workflow Coordination — Assign kitting tasks, monitor progress, and adjust priorities based on production schedule changes.
• Quality & Accuracy Oversight — Review kits for completeness, correct quantities, labeling, and documentation before release to Assembly.
• Training & Support — Train new kitters on IMP processes, BOM interpretation, labeling standards, and inventory systems.
• Inventory Issue Resolution Identify shortages, incorrect part numbers, or damaged materials; coordinate with Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator to complete an incomplete kitting form so that it can be resolved quickly.
• Process Improvement — Recommend improvements to reduce errors, streamline kitting flow, and enhance organization.
• Communication Hub — Serve as the primary liaison between Assembly, Supervisors, and Purchasing regarding kit status and material needs.
• Area Organization — Maintain a clean, efficient, and clearly labeled kitting area; ensure team compliance with 5S standards.
• Hands‑On Kitting — Perform kitting tasks as needed to support team workload and meet deadlines.  

Required Skills & Competencies

• Leadership & Coordination — Ability to guide team members, prioritize tasks, and maintain workflow.
• Advanced Attention to Detail — Strong ability to catch mismatches, missing components, or documentation errors.
• BOM & Traveler Interpretation — Proficient in reading and interpreting BOMs, job travelers, and part labels.
• Problem Solving — Quickly identify and resolve inventory or documentation issues.
• Communication — Clear, professional communication with Assembly, Purchasing, and Supervisors.
• Computer & System Skills — Comfortable using IMP Portal, inventory software, barcode scanners, and digital documentation.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Frequent movement between inventory shelves, kitting stations, and assembly areas.
• Work performed in a warehouse/production environment with varying temperatures.
• Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, eyewear, etc.).

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in kitting, inventory, warehouse, or assembly support.
• Prior leadership or team‑lead experience preferred.
• Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
