Park Maintenance Worker {Seasonal - Part-Time} (Job ID: 13-2026-06)

Overview The City of Independence is seeking seasonal Park Maintenance Workers to work under the city's Parks & Recreation Department. The Parks & Recreation Department is committed to excellence in programming, facilities, and service while improving the quality of life within our community. Responsibilities The primary responsibility of City of Independence Park Maintenance Workers is to perform routine maintenance related work to uphold the beautification standards of the City's exterior campus, parks and green spaces. Maintain park grounds Mow and maintain lawns Trim hedges Plant flowers Keep the park(s) clean and tidy Assist with maintenance and preservation of trees Planting of trees and shrubs Preparing park areas for season changes (i.e., fall leaf cleanup, mulching in spring, etc.) Daily cleaning duties which include vacuuming, skimming and brushing pools, cleaning/scrubbing pool decks, cleaning around pool buildings/locker rooms, emptying trash, moving/restocking supplies Necessary Competencies Accountability Coaches and Resolves Conflict Communication Customer Service Focus Ability to Manage Change / Adaptability Planning and Execution Problem Solving Prioritizing Multi-tasking Strategic Planning Teamwork Requirements Must pass a drug test and background check. Must possess at least a high-school diploma. Must be able to work the following variable shifts throughout the term the entire 7-day week: Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move in and around external grounds for extended periods of time. Maintain vigilance and fast reaction times. Ability to physically stand, bend, squat and lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under typical Ohio weather conditions. Salary Information The pay range for this role is $12.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience.
