Speech & Language Pathologist
The Speech & Language Pathologist, reporting to the Director of Specialized Instruction, provides targeted, research-aligned services district-wide to support students with communication needs. This role delivers specialized instruction that maximizes student access to the general education curriculum through evidence-based intervention, assessment, and collaborative problem-solving across diverse educational settings.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
Valid Speech Language Pathologist License or valid Elementary Teaching Certificate with (SB) Speech & Language Impairment endorsement
Ability to meet all district compliance requirements, including background checks
Preferred Qualifications
Certificate of Clinical Competency
Extensive training and/or experience in language development and oral functioning
Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, students, and staff
Ability to function as an effective team member
Foundational skills in total communication or manual communication
Core Responsibilities
Conduct diagnostic services, treatment, and educational planning for students with communication-related needs, including autism, emotional impairment, and behavioral challenges.
Implement formal identification and diagnostic assessments, including:
Speech and language screenings for early learners and referred students
Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to determine type and severity of impairment
Referrals to related professionals when appropriate
Collaboration with psychologists, social workers, and instructional staff
Develop individualized annual language goals with corresponding three-month objectives.
Complete written progress reports every three months.
Deliver evidence-based treatment targeting morphology, phonology, syntax, semantics, voice, and fluency.
Provide instructional support to teachers by identifying language tasks essential for classroom success.
Supervise aides and paraprofessionals supporting language interventions within specialized programs.
Develop structured language curriculum materials for the autistic program.
Provide staff training on language disorders, assessment, and instructional strategies.
Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.
Conduct annual service reviews with parents to adjust goals or supports.
Prepare and share program information for workshops, conferences, or community partners.
Assist with crisis management for students who are suspended or dysregulated.
Complete Medicaid documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This role requires emotional steadiness, adaptability, and consistent daily attendance. Physical expectations may include bending, lifting instructional materials, and engaging in activity across multiple school sites.

Salary: $45–$80 per hour
