Center City PCS is seeking a self-directed, collaborative Instructional Assistant to support a special education resource classroom. This individual will support the lead special education teacher in a resource classroom for a small group of students with disabilities. We are looking for someone who believes in the mission and values of Center City and will strive to provide the highest quality programming to the students they serve. The ideal candidate has worked in a similar capacity and has experience working with children with IEPs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Assist the lead teacher in designing and preparing instructional materials and implementing daily lessons that engage all learners and address both grade-level standards and IEP goals

• Assist the lead teacher in conducting and organizing ongoing assessments of student performance; collect data on student progress

• Implement scripted interventions as determined by student needs

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing academic, social, or behavioral interventions and accommodations as outlined in IEPs and classroom rules

• Monitor students in the classroom, hallways, at recess, on field trips, and during other school-related activities

• Participate in relevant training as necessary to support students in the classroom and to implement designated instructional programs

• Engage parents and families in their child’s academic success by fostering an ongoing relationship centered around hopes and dreams

• Engage in regular team meetings with the lead teacher, special education coordinator, and related service providers to discuss student progress and needs

Requirements:

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in education (preferred)

• Have general technology capacity

• References that reflect a high standing with past employers

• Able to lift to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
