A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:High School Diploma or equivalent.Three (3) years of experience in the Code Enforcement (health or building) field.Two (2) years of customer service experience preferred.Must maintain required certifications.Must possess the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation Code Enforcement Officer License.Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license.Must possess or be able to obtain the International Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector through (ICC) International Code Council Code Certification within two (2) years of employment.Must pass MVR check.Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.The Code Compliance Officer enforces Town, County, and State laws by inspecting properties, investigating potential violations, and determining appropriate enforcement actions. The position educates and informs residents about applicable codes and ordinances, promotes voluntary compliance, and ensures corrective measures are taken when necessary. By upholding standards for property maintenance, zoning, and environmental health, the Code Compliance Officer protects the health, safety, and welfare of the community and supports a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for all residents.
