Job Overview

The Bellperson is responsible for providing a warm, welcoming first and last impression for guests while assisting with luggage handling, room escorts, and general guest support. This role plays a key part in delivering exceptional hospitality by ensuring guests feel supported, informed, and valued throughout their stay.

This position operates in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment within the hotel lobby and entrance areas, requiring frequent standing, walking, and physical activity including lifting and carrying luggage. Success in this role requires strong customer service skills, professionalism, and the ability to remain attentive and responsive in a high-traffic hospitality setting.

Job Responsibilities

Guest Arrival & Departure Services

• Greet guests upon arrival and departure in a friendly, professional manner.
• Assist guests with loading, unloading, and transporting luggage.
• Escort guests to their rooms and provide a brief orientation of room features (TV, thermostat, Wi-Fi, etc.).
• Provide a welcoming and memorable first and last impression for all guests.

Guest Assistance & Support

• Respond promptly to guest requests and service needs.
• Store and retrieve guest luggage securely and efficiently when needed.
• Assist with coordinating valet services, taxis, or rideshare transportation.
• Support guest inquiries regarding hotel services and amenities.

Guest Information & Local Knowledge

• Provide information about hotel amenities, services, and policies.
• Share recommendations for local attractions, dining, and transportation options.
• Offer basic problem-solving assistance to enhance guest experience.

Lobby & Entrance Operations

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of lobby, entrance, and bell desk areas.
• Support smooth traffic flow at the hotel entrance during peak periods.
• Assist front desk and concierge teams as needed to ensure seamless guest service.

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.

Travel required: No travel required.

Physical requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of luggage of 30-50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to bend, reach, and move quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Continuous mobility within lobby, entrance, and guest room areas.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong visual and auditory ability to respond to guest needs and operational activity.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to lift and carry luggage (typically 30-50 lbs. or more).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Strong interpersonal and guest engagement skills.
• Basic problem-solving abilities.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Knowledge of local area (restaurants, attractions, transportation) is a plus.
