Dental Assistant – School of Dental Medicine, Sylva, NC The School of Dental Medicine provides education to dental students and residents and serves the underserved population of North Carolina through clinics in Ross Hall and community centers. This role supports 4‑handed dentistry by assisting dental students and faculty in patient care. Responsibilities Prepare and flow patients in the clinic. Assist in dental examinations and procedures under the direction of students, residents, and faculty dentists. Access patient information and chart as directed. Monitor blood pressure and sedation as required. Follow OSHA standards for hand washing, masking, gloving, and disposal of contaminants. Monitor patients during treatment and transport as needed. Perform dental x‑rays as ordered by the dentist. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or equivalent combination of training and experience. License or certification required by statute or regulation (none specified). Ability to assist in a fast‑paced clinical environment and to follow standard operating procedures.
