Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

26-bed Acute Care Unit with a diverse patient population, primarily General Surgery and Trauma

Post-surgical patients make up approximately 90% of the unit census, with medical diagnoses comprising the remainder

All rooms equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry

Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00), working 36 or 48 hours per week

13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required

Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays

Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed

Must adhere to facility's float policy, floating within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

Active RN license (VA or Compact)

BLS certification required; ACLS preferred

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Epic charting system experience required

Prior travel nursing experience required

Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred

BSN preferred

Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care

IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care

Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry remote monitoring

Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience

IV insulin protocol and titration experience

Additional Information

Provide post-surgical and trauma patient care within a fast-paced acute care unit

Utilize skills in plastics/reconstructive care such as mastectomy, skin graft, and surgical drain management

Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed

Manage patients with orthopedic trauma, genitourinary/renal conditions, and traumatic brain injury as applicable

Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to acceptance

Pending VA license accepted at time of consideration

No radius rule applies to this position

Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have a 12-month separation before returning
