Hog Loader
Prestage
Prestage Farms is seeking for a dependable and motivated Hog Loader with the potential to advance into a crew leadership role . This position is responsible for the safe, humane, and efficient loading of hogs for transportation, with a strong emphasis on animal welfare, biosecurity, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have prior livestock handling experience and demonstrate leadership qualities that can grow into supervising a team of loaders.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the loading of market swine.
- Open gates and move marked swine to the truck driver and holding area according to instructions.
- Adjust loading ramp and assist truck driver when backing his or her vehicle.
- Supervise the cleanup of truck, cutting boards, boots, etc.
- Responsible for the accountability of daily paperwork.
Requirements
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) .
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operational procedures, and maintenance manuals.
- Capable of writing routine reports and professional correspondence.
- Comfortable speaking to groups such as employees, growers, or visitors.
- Strong math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals, percentages, and interpret data such as bar graphs.
- Previous experience handling livestock (hogs preferred) in production or transportation settings.
- Solid understanding of animal welfare and handling best practices .
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in physically demanding, fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours , including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance record are essential.
