Benefits 401(k) Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Speech-Language Pathologist Reports to: Assistant Principal About the role The Shirley Aninias School is seeking an experienced Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide therapeutic intervention and educational instruction to students in a cognitive‑linguistic framework. The SLP teaches with a focus on academic language and strategy instruction in a group and 1:1 setting. Further, the SLP collaborates with teachers and other professionals on how to best meet students’ language learning needs. The position also involves conducting language screenings and other assessments and submitting progress reports. The ideal candidate is an experienced SLP with a strong desire to work in a collaborative environment and a commitment to teaching students with language‑based learning disabilities. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students with communication and swallowing difficulties Provide therapy sessions to improve speech, language, and swallowing skills Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators, and other professionals concerning the needs of students Conduct assessments and evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date documentation of student evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports Participate in clinical team meetings, IEP meetings, and outside team meetings Provide coverage during lapse of services, when necessary Assist the Assistant Principal or Principal with projects and presentations (e.g., parent trainings) Requirements NY State Licensed Speech Therapist ASHA Certification (CCC‑SLP) TSSLD Master’s Degree (e.g., MS, MA) in Speech Language Pathology or higher At least 2 years of working experience at a comparable setting Proficient in a variety of evaluation and assessment tools used in pediatric practice Proficient in using a variety of therapeutic approaches and SLP frames of references, such as DTTC/PROMPT & Social Thinking Curriculum Proficient in use of AAC Devices The Shirley Aninias School is an equal opportunity employer.
