Position Details

• Employment Type: Part-Time
• Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour
• Schedule: Multi-Shift | 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM (based on business needs)

About the Role

Dunbar Security Solutions is hiring a Retail Security Officer to support store operations by helping maintain a safe, professional, and customer-friendly environment. This position works closely with store personnel to monitor daily activity, assist with loss prevention efforts, and respond to security-related concerns as they arise.

This role is best suited for someone who remains alert in fast-paced environments, communicates professionally with the public, and can balance customer service with security responsibilities.

Primary Duties

• Maintain a visible presence throughout the retail location during assigned hours
• Observe customer and employee activity to help reduce theft, policy violations, and safety concerns
• Respond to door alarms and verify receipts or purchases when appropriate
• Perform scheduled walkthroughs of sales areas, entrances, exits, and surrounding exterior spaces
• Report suspicious behavior, unsafe conditions, or incidents to store leadership and supervisors
• Prepare accurate incident reports and shift documentation
• Support store staff with safety-related concerns and operational issues
• Assist customers in a courteous and professional manner when needed
• Follow company procedures, site guidelines, and retail security protocols
• Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by management

Basic Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain attentive and professional during active shifts
• Dependable attendance and punctual work habits
• Comfortable working in a retail environment with frequent public interaction
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift

Preferred Background

• Previous experience in retail security, customer service, or loss prevention
• Familiarity with incident reporting or observation documentation
• Experience working in fast-paced customer-facing environments

Work Setting

• Retail environment with continuous customer and employee interaction
• Combination of standing, walking, monitoring, and routine patrol activity
• Evening shifts requiring consistent awareness and attention to detail
• Fast-moving setting where priorities may change throughout the shift
