Restaurant Operations Summer Internship Experience Hogsalt is delighted to offer a summer internship for students pursuing a career in restaurant leadership or a related field. Spend the summer learning exactly how we do what we do and come out the other side ready for anything. Hogsalt is looking for people with drive, ambition, and a special sensibility to take on 10 hard‑charging weeks that will put you hands‑on inside one of our Chicago restaurants. Hogsalt does things a little differently, and our internship program is no exception. If you’re the kind of person who’s passionate about learning and is up to the challenge, this is a singular opportunity. June 4 - August 12, 2026 What to Expect Attend the Hogsalt Vision & Values orientation session and fully participate in all other orientation and coaching sessions with our Recruiting, Training, & Development team. Develop teamwork and communication skills in weekly workshops on communication, feedback, goal‑setting, teamwork, and the power of positivity. Expand knowledge with training in HR, Finance & Admin, Facilities, and Training & Development. Handle tools and equipment safely and effectively while working in a fast paced restaurant environment. Effectively communicate to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken directions. Juggle multiple tasks and demands under pressure smoothly and effectively. Perform essential duties as outlined for each role (food runner, server, bartender, host, busser, etc.) assigned by your Internship Leader. Work a full gamut of days and shifts, including weekends and nights. Be comfortable shifting and lifting items up to 25 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Navigate restaurant environments involving stair climbing, standing or sitting for the entire shift, and working on slippery or rough floors. What You’ll Do Anticipate needs and exceed expectations to make guests’ time with us the highlight of their day. Greet guests and colleagues with a warm and sincere smile. Respond to challenges with kindness, patience, and tact while practicing good judgment. Learn to use and master a wide variety of tools and equipment. Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations and company policies, and obtain a Food Handler’s Certification and/or BASSET Certification.
