Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency
• Previous experience interpreting in a school setting preferred
• Ability to provide 1:1 communication support to students
• Understanding of the nuances of student–interpreter interaction
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and fostering inclusivity
• Appropriate certification or licensure as required by state regulations

Responsibilities:

• Deliver accurate sign language interpretation between students and staff throughout the school day
• Support a single student’s access to classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate seamless communication
• Advocate for students’ communication needs as appropriate
• Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings if requested
• Maintain timely documentation and uphold professional standards
