The Quality Assurance Practitioner is responsible for ensuring that SQF is met.

Responsible for managing, maintaining, and continuously improving the facility’s SQF Food Safety and Quality Management System. This position ensures compliance with SQF requirements customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and company food safety and quality policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as they pertain to the food industry.

• Knowledge of FDA regulations and requirements

• Experience coordinating activities to meet customer specifications and quality

standards.

• Computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Ability to, and experience in, utilizing lab equipment and measuring devices, strong math

skills.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to interact with departments within the company.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities and to discern importance of priorities.

Education/Training/Experience - Salary will depend on experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Must have 2+ years experience in Quality Assurance

• Working knowledge of SQF requirements, HACCP principles, GMPs, and food safety

programs.

• Strong knowledge of documentation, recordkeeping, auditing, and corrective action

processes

• Experience in food manufacturing, food safety, quality assurance, or SQF regulated operations

preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

• Manage and maintain all daily SQF Documents and paperwork.

• Ensure corrective action of non-conformities of the SQF program.

• Prepare and assist in annual SQF certification audits; participate and take the lead in food

safety audits.

• Train and supervise management employees that have a role in the SQF Program to ensure their

good understanding of the rules and development as a team of the best control measures possible.

• Verify employee compliance with established food safety and GMP requirements.

• Provide food safety, SQF, GMP, allergen, sanitation, and other required training to

employees.

• Obtain documents and samples for using during review of customer concerns.

• Monitor prerequisite programs, including GMPs, sanitation, allergen control, pest control,

traceability, and product identification.

• Perform laboratory sampling and analysis of incoming ingredients, intermediate product and final

product which includes chemical and physical testing.

• Research and report quality issues for defective and on hold items.

• Look for areas for QA process improvements.

• Participate in other plant teams and programs such as team building and scrap team.

• Alert and train quality inspectors of changes to customer expectations and

specifications.

• Assist and prepare various research of special projects.

• Review and put in place any changes of customer expectations or specifications. Assist in

training if necessary.

• Monitor packing of products to ensure compliance to FDA and GMP standards.

• Monitor various areas within the facility to ensure compliance with FDA; GMP requirements.

Varies

• Ensure environmental monitoring is performed monthly.

• Meet, as needed, with customers and raw material representatives to review and resolve material

discrepancies.

• Develop how to implement quality specifications per customer requirements.

• Work closely with all plant operations (Production, QA, Maintenance, HR, and Engineering) in the

areas of implementing and maintaining SQF requirements according to the SQF Code.

• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate activities related to the SQF program.

• Participate in production, taste tests, and new product development as it is related to food

safety.

• Responsible for reporting food safety issues to management and/or Quality Assurance.
