Financial Reporting - Vice President

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $122,000.00 and $170,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Overview SMBC seeks a Vice President in the Bank Accounting Department to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close large‑scale projects across the Controllers Group, driving defined projects/workstreams and working closely with key business and technical stakeholders. Responsibilities Develop and maintain Project Plans and Project Documents (Project Charter, Stakeholder Register, Issue Log) in accordance with the Project Life Cycle. Coordinate and consolidate workstream status reports, track schedules and milestones, risks, issues, and observations that need management’s attention within a program/project. Create and maintain budget and resource plans for project execution and fiscal year planning. Conduct periodic meetings (daily, weekly, monthly) for the Controllers Group. Coordinate audits with external and internal auditors for audit‑related activities. Coordinate and negotiate with external consulting firms and vendors. Prepare and edit Weekly Project Status Reporting materials, including concise visual artifacts for management. Track cross‑workstream dependencies and milestones; facilitate and note‑take cross‑workstream meetings. Assist with the creation and management of the project management plan. Identify, Escalate, and mitigate project issues and risks across workstreams and projects. Provide oversight for project management artifacts (plans, charters, business cases, status reports). Understand challenges faced by business departments and propose solutions. Draft, review, and edit business requirement documents, gathering and analyzing requirements from key stakeholders. Draft test plans and perform QA/ UAT; coordinate support for QA/UAT calls. Support creation and maintenance of business workflows, procedure manuals, and accounting analyses. Draft and deliver training materials for end users. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. 5+ years of industry experience, preferably in the financial industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. PMP Certification preferred but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project). Excellent project management skills and ability to collaborate across functional teams. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage shifting priorities. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills. Detail oriented and well organized. Ability to work independently as well as within a group. Ability to balance and prioritize critical responsibilities to meet deadlines. SMBC’s employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that allows working from home and from an SMBC office.
