About the Role Our client, a dynamic agency in the Media & PR sector, is seeking a motivated Media Relations Executive to join their remote team, servicing clients in Welkom and surrounding areas in the Free State . This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with media contacts, pitching compelling stories, and securing positive media coverage for our client's diverse portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a passion for media, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and capitalizing on PR opportunities. You will be a key player in driving media engagement and ensuring our client's message reaches the right audiences effectively. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, and influencers. Proactively pitch media stories, press releases, and other content to relevant media outlets. Secure positive media placements and coverage across various platforms (print, online, broadcast). Monitor media coverage and track the success of media relations efforts. Assist in developing media lists and outreach strategies. Respond to media inquiries promptly and professionally. Collaborate with the PR team to develop integrated communication strategies. Stay informed about industry trends and current events to identify newsworthy angles. Support the planning and execution of media events and press conferences. Prepare media kits and background materials for spokespeople. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in media relations or public relations, preferably in an agency setting. Proven ability to build relationships with media contacts and secure coverage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong pitching abilities. Proficiency in using media databases and monitoring tools. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment. A proactive and results-oriented approach. Knowledge of social media platforms and their role in media relations.
