Deli Assistant Manager

The Assistant Deli Manager will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the deli department. You will ensure that our customers enjoy high-quality food and excellent service in a clean, organized, and efficient environment. Responsibilities And Duties Customer Service Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently Take orders both in person and over the phone, offering menu recommendations and ensuring a positive customer experience Food Preparation Prepare both hot and cold deli items, including slicing meats and cheeses, and creating sandwiches and other menu items to order Maintain high standards of food presentation and quality to exceed customer expectations Food Safety & Cleanliness Take and record temperatures of food items throughout your shift to ensure food safety Adhere to all food handling and safety protocols in accordance with SERV Safe guidelines Maintain a clean and organized workstation, performing daily and weekly cleaning duties as required Team Support & Leadership Assist the Deli Manager in overseeing day-to-day deli operations, ensuring smooth workflow and exceptional customer service Supervise and train deli staff, providing guidance and support to ensure a positive and efficient work environment Inventory Management & Ordering Assist the Deli Manager with managing weekly and monthly inventory, ensuring stock levels are adequate for daily operations Participate in ordering deli items and ingredients, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste Food Safety & Hygiene Adhere to all food safety protocols, including temperature monitoring and proper food handling in compliance with SERV Safe guidelines Maintain a clean and organized workstation by following daily and weekly cleaning schedules Sales & Customer Engagement Promote deli products and assist with sales goals by ensuring that all deli offerings are visible and well-stocked Engage with customers to increase sales opportunities and enhance the overall customer experience Education And Work Experience High school graduate, GED, or equivalent required Must be at least 18 years old Basic proficiency with knives and food preparation techniques. A basic understanding of the English language and the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively Basic math skills for measuring and weighing ingredients Certifications Must have a valid food handlers certificate or be able to obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate Skill Set People management and leadership Deli slicer - Slicing meats and cheeses Deep fryer - Preparation of fried food Preparation of Rotisserie chicken Assisting customers with full-service deli Preparation of sandwiches both custom and per menu board Thermometer - Take and record temperatures throughout a shift Maintain a clean and organized workstation through daily and weekly cleaning Maintain safety protocols and be well versed in proper food handling techniques per SERV Safe Guidelines Maintain professional grooming and hygiene standards in accordance with Power Market Guidelines Oven Flat Top Hot case Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
