Job Summary Responsible for resident care using nursing competencies such as assessments, care planning, implementation of interventions, and evaluation of resident needs and care being provided. Support CNAs to ensure resident care standards are maintained and comply with HIPAA regulations. Responsibilities Assess, implement, evaluate, and re-evaluate resident care needs. Demonstrate appropriate technical skills when administering treatment and procedures per physician orders and regulatory requirements. Provide direction and assign daily duties to nursing staff. Act as a resource for staff regarding resident care and keep management updated on status. Document pertinent information in the resident’s chart, including nursing interventions, problems, changes in mood, behavior, affect, or cognition. Meet all documentation standards and ensure CNAs maintain medical documentation data and worksheets. Use and adapt to new technologies and processes to enhance productivity. Work collaboratively with the team to coordinate care and manage outcomes. Maintain ongoing communication with residents, families, physicians, and others as appropriate. Inform the nurse manager of any significant resident, family, or staff issues. Perform additional duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Lift 25 pounds without assistance or 26+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance. Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, reach, push, and pull to meet resident needs. Required Knowledge, Skills & Ability Decision making without direct supervision. Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Strong clinical assessment skills and competencies. Desired Knowledge, Skills & Ability Ability to care for geriatric or cognitively impaired residents. Required Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia in good standing. Desired Education & Experience One year experience working with a geriatric population. Experience with cognitively impaired residents. Three years nursing experience. Required Behavioral Competencies Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Sound decision-making based on objective analysis. Proactive recognition of needed changes and initiation of action. Compassionate patience and understanding of others. Ability to create a high-performance work environment fostering teamwork.
