The Role \n
\n
\nJoin a growing team working to keep people safe from security threats in the built environment. Our team includes people from a variety of architectural, engineering and security backgrounds who work together on a wide range of project types including education facilities, office buildings, transit infrastructure, and sports facilities. You'll join a team that is always learning and adapting as we perform risk assessments and advise architects and owners on improving the security of their designs and facilities. \n

Responsibilities \n
\n
\nWe will provide training to help you develop the following security, IT Infrastructure, AV design skills: \n
\n

\n
• Learn to provide security/protective design consulting services for new and existing construction. Security topics include, but are not limited to physical security, security technology and operational security.
\n
• Perform risk assessments of existing or proposed facilities using industry standard threat, vulnerability, and risk assessment (TVRA) methods.
\n
• Produce coordinated Revit models and drawing sets for electronic security (e.g., access control, video surveillance), IT/Telecom (e.g., MDF/IDF layouts, backbone and pathway systems), and/or AV systems.
\n
• Draft reports and memorandums to communicate risk assessments, security requirements / recommendations and other technical design information.
\n
• Coordinate security requirements and design information with architects, owners, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.

\n

\n
• Undergraduate degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil or Structural Engineering or other building design disciplines.
\n
• 2+ years of experience in the architecture and engineering industry.
\n
• Exposure to electrical engineering, electronic security systems, and/or IT Infrastructure systems preferred.
\n
• Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, Revit, Rhino preferred.
\n
• A strong interest in security consulting as it relates to building and infrastructure design and construction.
\n
• A desire to become familiar with the relevant standards, best practices, and methodologies for protecting people in and around facilities.
\n
• The position requires the candidate to gain and hold US Security clearance.
\n

Compensation \n
\nThe rate for this position generally is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by District of Columbia Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.\n
